<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <Paper uid="W98-1309"> <Title>Implementing Voting Constraints with Finite State Transducers</Title> <Section position="7" start_page="98" end_page="98" type="concl"> <SectionTitle> 6 Conclusions </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> We have presented an approach to constraint-based tagging and an implementation of the approach based on finite state transducers. The approach can combine both statistically and manually derived constraints, and relieves the developer from worrying about conflicting rule application sequencing. Preliminary results from tagging the Wall Street Journal Corpus are quite promising. We would like to further evaluate our approach using 10-fold cross validation on the WSJ corpus and later on the Brown Corpus. We also would like to utilize the full expressive power of the regular expression operations to compact our constraint rule base.</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
