    <Paragraph position="0"> We have introduced an underspecified Japanese grammar using the HPSG framework. The techniques for improving accuracy were easy to include into our grammar due to the HPSG framework. Experimental results have shown that our grammar has wide coverage with reasonable accuracy.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> Though the pseudo-principles and further constraints on LEs/LETs that we have introduced contribute to accuracy, they are too strong and therefore cause some coverage loss. One way we could prevent coverage loss is by introducing preferences for feature structures.</Paragraph>
