<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <Paper uid="W97-1302"> <Title>Constraints and Defaults on Zero Pronouns in Japanese Instruction Manuals</Title> <Section position="7" start_page="10" end_page="12" type="concl"> <SectionTitle> 7 Conclusion </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> In this paper, we proposed a scheme which closely depends not on domain knowledge of objects described in manuals but on pragmatic constraints which linguistic expressions innately have. This method uses only the linguistic constraints and the general ontology of the world described by manuals.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> We have shown that we can determine the referents of zero pronouns to some extent with our linguistic constraints and defaults. However, we do not have enough knowledge about the following points.
