<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?> <Paper uid="W97-0208"> <Title>Sense Tagging: Semantic Tagging with a Lexicon</Title> <Section position="10" start_page="50" end_page="50" type="concl"> <SectionTitle> 9 Conclusion </SectionTitle> <Paragraph position="0"> In this paper we have argued that semantic tagging can be carried out only relative to the senses in some lexicon and that a machine readable dictionary provides an appropriate set of senses.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> We reported a simple semantic tagger which achieves 86% correct disambignation using two independent sources of information: part-of-speech tags and dictionary definition overlap. A proposal to extend this tagger is developed, based on other, mutually independent, sources of lexical information.</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
