CONCLUSIONS
</SectionTitle>
    <Paragraph position="0"> We have described an efficient parser that operates bottom-up to produce syntactic and semantic structures fully interleaved. Two techniques combine to reduce the total ambiguity represented in the chart. Limited left-context constraints reduce local syntactic ambiguity, and deferred sortal-constraint application reduces local semantic ambiguity. We have expermentally evaluated these techniques, and shown order-of-magnitude reductions in both number of chart edges and total parsing time. The robust processing capabilities of the parser have also been shown to be able to provide a small but significant increase in the accuracy of a speech recognizer.</Paragraph>
