    <Paragraph position="0"> We have presented a model that distinguishes between similar connectives. This work synthesizes theoretical work in argumentation (Anscombre &amp; Ducrot, 1983), conversation analysis (Sinclair &amp; Coulthard, 1975, Roulet et al, 1985, Moeschler, 1985), polyphony and given/new studies (Duerot, 1983, Halliday, 1985, Prince, 1981) into a coherent computational framework. Connective choice is implemented using functional unification.</Paragraph>
