    <Paragraph position="0"> In this paper, we have presented a text planner that builds a detailed text plan, containing the intentional, attentional, and rhetorical structures of the responses it produces.</Paragraph>
    <Paragraph position="1"> We argued that, in order to participate in a dialogue with its users, a generation system must be capable of reasoning about its past utterances. The text plans built by our text planner provide a generator with the information needed to reason about its responses.</Paragraph>
