    <Paragraph position="0"> We have described a speech act interpretation system that retains all the advantages of the previous plan-based approaches, yet has the additional characteristics:  The key idea is to produce a space of possible interpretations, both a range of allowable interpretations and a set of suggested interpretations, rather than a single so-called literal meaning.</Paragraph>
