    <Paragraph position="0"> The assertion of relational propositions is a hitherto unexplained phenomenon. Rhetorical Structure Theory provides a way to explain such assertions in terms of discourse structure. In addition to explaining relational propositions,  Rhetorical Structure Theory can be used to explain other text characteristics as well, and it provides a way to address a wide range of discourse phenomena.</Paragraph>
