<Paragraph position="0"> We have described the design of a lexical database to be used with a natural language based expert system, discussed a number of problems we encountered when coding syntactic information for words, and also mentioned where addtional work needs to be done in order to achieve a comprehensive dictionary for language processing.</Paragraph>
<Paragraph position="1"> By November 1985, we coded morphological and syntactic information for some 5,500 nouns, approximately 3,000 verbs, and 3,500 adjectives. Our next steps are to fully integrate the lexical database with the rest of our prototype to improve our concordance programs, and to continue the development of criteria for syntactic subcategorization.</Paragraph>
