The focus of the task was on languages with scarce resources, with evaluations of alignments for three different language pairs: English-Inuktitut, English-Hindi, and Romanian-English. The task drew the participation of ten teams from around the world, with a total of 50 systems.</Paragraph> <Paragraph position="1"> In this paper, we presented the task definition, resources involved, and shortly described the participating systems. Comparative evaluations of results led to insights regarding the development of word alignment algorithms for languages with scarce resources, with performance evaluations of (1) various algorithms, (2) different amounts of training data, and (3) different additional resources. Data and evaluation software used in this exercise are available online at http://www.cs.unt.edu/~rada/wpt05.</Paragraph> </Section> class="xml-element"></Paper>
