    <Paragraph position="0"> This paper demonstrated that example-based MT can be improved by incorporating it in models of statistical MT. The example-based MT used in this paper is based on syntactic transfer, so word re-ordering is achieved in the transfer module. Using this feature, the best translation was selected by using only a lexicon model and an n-gram language model. In addition, bottom-up generation achieved faster translation speed by using the tree structure of the target sentence.</Paragraph>
