    <Paragraph position="0"> In this paper, we propose an ontology-based and corpus-driven approach towards predicting lexical meaning of conceptual metaphors. Our theory is thus formally constrained. We also verified our findings with examination of corpora data. In the final version of this paper, we will demonstrate how the process of establishing mapping principles and deriving metaphorical meaning can be semiautomaticized based on both the SUMO ontological databases and corpora data. Such a process has important implications both in cognitive explanation of conceptual metaphors and in the application of SUMO to predict figurative meaning in metaphorical uses.</Paragraph>
