6 Conclusions

    <Paragraph position="0"> We have examined several issues arising from a first attempt to annotate spoken dialog for rhetorical structure. We have proposed ways of dealing with each of these issues in an annotation scheme we are developing. Much future work is certainly needed in this area; we hope that the results of our annotation may form a quantitative baseline for comparison with future work.</Paragraph>
